How do you know exactly how much gold you have actually bought based on just a number stamped?
'One thing you MUST know when buying Gold jewellery'
FINENESS
Definition:
The measure of gold purity, a measurement of the purity of precious metal, - Collins Dictionary.
The quality of being very thin - Cambridge dictionary
The quality of being very exact and delicate - Cambridge dictionary
It’s almost impossible to look at a piece of jewellery and know what fineness the gold has. To tell what fineness of gold you are getting look out for tiny hallmark stamps with the following numbers;
Fineness |
Hallmark Stamp |
24K |
1000 |
18K |
750 |
14K |
583 |
9K |
375 |
Here at VOA we only use 18K gold in our fine jewellery, 24K is too soft and malleable to be durable enough for everyday wear. Could you imagine the shape of your ring moulding edges after constant wear?
18K has a high percentage of gold, 75% to be exact, and is mixed with other metals such as silver to make it suitable for everyday wear and feel durable. We wouldn’t want you to wear deformed and highly scratched jewellery.
Love,
